Basic education in the arts
The dance will begin with the early childhood studies at the age of 1 – 8. In the early childhood studies the students will register to groups according to their birth year.
The early childhood studies
- Child/adult dance (L/A) 1 – 3 years old
- Children’s dance (LT) 3 – 4 years old
- Children’s dance (LT) 4 – 6 years old
- Boys’ dance 4 – 6 years old and 6 – 9 years old
- Pre-ballet (EB) 6 – 7 years old
- Elementary ballet 1 (AB1) 7 – 8 years old
Basic and advanced studies
In the basic studies (approximately 9 – 15 years old students) the main subject will be studied twice a week. In addition the student can choose secondary and/or optional subject available for the student’s group.
In Espoon Tanssiopisto classical ballet and contemporary dance can be chosen as main subjects starting from the age of 9. Starting from the age of 12 jazz dance can be chosen as a main subject as well.
In the advanced studies (approximately 15 – 19 years old students) the main subjects will be studied atleast twice or three times a week and the chosen secondary subjects atleast once a week.
Main subject studies
- Basic and advanced studies in classical ballet (B1-B9), 8 – 19 years old
- Basic and advanced studies in contemporary dance (Nyky 1 – 9), 8 – 19 years old
- Basic and advanced studies in jazz dance (Jazz 4 – 9), 12 – 19 years old
Optional subjects
Open department (Avoin opetus)
The lessons of Open department (Avoin opetus) are available for students over 14 years old (teenagers and adults).
Available open department lessons are:
- Classical ballet
- Jazz dance
- Contemporary dance
- Online Pilates
